Rose Bride's Plight Introduction

A cold war between Spring and Winter threatens to tear the freehold apart. Broken oaths, betrayals, and bitter memories widened the chasm between the two Courts for decades with each transition from Onyx to Emerald becoming an ever more frigid and hostile affair.

In the past, fanatics on either side have taken overt action against their enemies and tensions have swelled. Members of the Freehold fear that if something is not done soon, one party or the other will take drastic action and drive the Freehold into a true civil war.

Or worse.

From amidst the turmoil, two level headed rules have emerged and struck a time-honored bargain, pledging to unite their Courts with a wedding between two of their members. But it appears that someone isn’t eager to see the decades old hostilities so easily soothed

Rose Bride's Plight Part I

The story starts during the celebratory ball held at the estate of Queen aeolian.

The three player characters are introduced as a newly formed motley, only a few months out of the Hedge. Leo Fitzpatrick is a wizened crafter from the Winter Court. Sam Remmings is a Beast Hunterheart from the Summer Court as well. Darian Kane is an air-touched Elemental from Winter as well.

The socialize for a bit, establishing relationships and picking up tidbits of information here and there, though some of them are simple rumors. Todd White, the winter groom is identified as a playboy and while everyone seems to adore Aurora, the spring bride, one man in particular seems to have an axe to grind with her. Madame Night foretells a great doom and Parsimon, a crotchety, wizened woodwalker, shows his distaste for attention.

Below the surface atmosphere runs 30 years of dark, cold freehold history but it is shattered by a grave announcement. as the players have noticed during the party, the spring monarch and the blushing bride to be are missing. This is addressed, however, when the monarch bursts in, her despair and anger showing in the form of a small hurricane within the room, screaming out the news that Aurora has been murdered and whoever brings her the killer will receive a boon of his choice.

The ballroom falls into chaos and the motley follow after Aurora’s friends to her room to investigate her death. after a couple hours of searching the room, investigating the body and hacking into her electronics, the motley comes away with several clues to point toward a self-induced coma that appears to be death. They find a goblin fruit and when they try to ask Parsimon, the best gardener around, about it, he runs away, arousing their suspicions.

Foiled, one character asks the Queen for an animal to test the rest of the goblin fruit on while the other two remain outside, confronting Micah the Tall for information.

After a bit of a brawl with Sam, he gives up a lot of information, the most important being that Aurora is indeed, still alive.
